FOOTBALL - Wrexham 16second goal enough to defeat Rotherham
Wrexham's forward, Paul Mullin, made an immediate impact by scoring just 16 seconds into Saturday's away match against Rotherham, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory for his team. From the opening kick-off, Wrexham swiftly moved the ball down the right flank, culminating in Ryan Barnett's cross to the six-yard box, where Mullin finished the play.
"It was an outstanding cross from Barney and a brilliant finish from Mulls, who did what he's done time and time for us," said Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson. "We all know he's a great player with an ability to score all types of goals and I'm really pleased for him."
Mullin has started four games this season, including in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, and has scored three goals, maintaining an impressive record. His overall performance in the match was exceptional.
"There's a lot of expectancy on Paul because of what he's done for us as a club, but he's come back into the team firing and played a big part in a gritty, resilient away performance," Parkinson added.
The Welsh team had opportunities to increase their lead in the second half, with notable chances from a James McClean header and another Mullin attempt, but they were thwarted each time.
With this result, Wrexham remains in second place in League One, trailing leaders Birmingham by two points, who also have a game in hand.
