Port Adelaide captain Connor Rozee is optimistic about his team's position as they head into the AFL finals. As they prepare to face Geelong this Thursday night at Adelaide Oval, Rozee emphasized the importance of staying focused on the present rather than looking too far ahead. Speaking to the Adelaide media on Monday, he discussed the team's preparation for the finals, their versatility, and the confidence gained from winning close games this season.

Rozee on finals preparation: "I feel like we're in a great spot as a team right now. We've strung together a few months of consistent football and have adapted our game style each week based on our opponents. Our finals experience from last year and previous years will definitely benefit the younger players, giving them a sense of what it's like to play in finals. They're all really excited for Thursday night.

"I don't think our preparation was the issue last year. We probably didn't handle the pressure as well as we could have. We had some players who hadn't experienced finals before and others who were out due to injury. This year, we're focusing solely on this week. I feel confident in our squad's position. We have a lot of healthy players who are mentally refreshed after some time off and ready to go."

Following a 93-point victory against the Eagles on Saturday, Geelong secured third place on the AFL ladder with a 15-8 record after 24 rounds, thanks to GWS's loss on Sunday. The winner of the Second Qualifying Final will advance to week 3 and host a home Preliminary Final, while the loser will face the winner of the Hawthorn and Western Bulldogs match.
